10 Steps to Success

Step 1 - Contact Us

Take the first step towards owning your own business complete the Information Request Form on our website. Your information will be reviewed by our staff who will then contact you.

Step 2 - First Appointment

A Franchise Traders consultant will contact you to discuss your background, interests, and expectations. This session usually takes about 30-40 minutes and can be done over the telephone. Understanding your goals and needs allows us to find the best opportunity for you.

Step 3 – Research

Based on the background information you provide, your Franchise Traders consultant researches available franchises and match their models and requirements with your goals and preferences. From over 6000 franchises available in the U.S. today, we will identify 3-4 franchises that best fit your needs.

Step 4 – Presentation

Via telephone, your Franchise Traders consultant will present the ‘best-fit” opportunities that have been selected for you. We share the pros and cons of each opportunity and explain how each business model fits your criteria. You then decide which opportunities are of greatest interest to you.

Step 5 - Introduction to Franchisor

Franchise Traders facilitates an introductory phone call with each of the franchise companies you are interested in. During this phone call, the franchisor will share details about their business process and answer any questions you may have. They will then provide materials to help you become more familiar with their franchise opportunity.

Step 6 - Review of the FDD

The franchisor will send you a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). A franchisor is required by law to present most of the information included in the FDD. Franchise Traders can help you review the information in the FDD and identify items that require special attention. You should then review the FDD in complete detail, writing down any questions or concerns for discussion with the franchisor.

Step 7 - Call Other Franchisees

Each FDD contains contact information for several franchisees. You should call these franchisees to ask questions about their experience with the company. Franchise Traders will ensure that you know precisely what questions to ask other franchisees in order fully evaluate their experience.

Step 8 - Consultation with Attorney and Accountant

You should always consult with an attorney and an accountant before making any major business decisions. It is important to use professionals with a background in franchising, or the process may time-consuming, costly, and sometimes, incomplete.

Step 9 - Attend a Discovery Day

Most franchisors have a Discovery Day during which prospective franchisees are invited to visit the company. During a Discovery Day, you will receive more information to help you decide if this is the right franchise for you. You will also have the opportunity to meet the franchise staff that will provide your initial training and continuing support. Franchise Traders helps prepare you for a Discovery Day by ensuring that you know precisely what to look for and what questions to ask. Discovery Day is the final step in the evaluation process, so we want to be certain that leave with all of the information you need to make a decision.

Step 10 - Decision Time
